Mosaic Lodge No. 55 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons
Serving Norfolk and Northeast Nebraska since 1875
What is Fremasonry?
Freemasonry is the world’s oldest fraternal organization—a brotherhood of men committed to moral development, personal responsibility, and service to others. Rooted in centuries of tradition, it offers a path of self-improvement, shared purpose, and lifelong connection. Our Lodge welcomes good men from all walks of life who seek something deeper.
Joining A Lodge
Joining a masonic lodge isn’t a fast process. A man who expresses interest is usually invited to a few events to get to know the brothers. Eventually, the man might submit a petition for the degrees of freemasonry. After that, it is usually two to three months before he can be elected to membership and receive his first degree.
This time before election includes a number of interviews, investigations, and a background check. After election there may be a process of candidate education before being initiated.
Following initiation, there may be a process of education and proficiency examination between degrees until the man is finally raised as a Master Mason, entitled to visit other recognized masonic lodges and join other masonic bodies.
To join a lodge you must:
- Be a man.
- Have reached 18 years of age.
- Believe in a supreme being.
- Be of good character
- Submit to a background check.
- Ask. You will not be invited to join.
